Maruxa Salas

The choreographer and dancer from Ourense Maruxa Salas directs the project Neodans. She graduated in Dance specialising in Choreography and Performance Techniques from the Alicia Alonso Advanced Institute of Dance in Madrid, where she was awarded the 2004 Choreographic Composition Prize, she also studied Classical Ballet at the Royal Academy of Dance in London and at the Professional Conservatory of Dance in Madrid. A scholar of the Alicia Alonso Foundation between 1998 and 2002 she participated in different productions of the Youth Chamber Ballet of Madrid. From 1995 to 2000 she was also a scholar of the África Guzmán School in Madrid, dancing in the company.

In 2002 she obtained a grant from SGAE (General Society of Authors and Editors) in order to complete her training in the National Ballet of Cuba, where two years later she worked as a guest choreographer.

In 2001 in Madrid and La Habana she presented one of her first creations, Per Loca Marítima, for which she received the Madrid Special Theatre Award and the 1st Prize in the 2nd Burgos-New York International Choreography Competition for Minube, programmed by the Korzo Theatre (Holland) and also staged in different places in Spain and Cuba.

In 2003 she performed in the Holland Dance Festival as a soloist dancer in Orlando by the choreographer Tom Stuart.
