The piece

Giselle brings up a blending of the two central aspects that determined Romanticism:the cult of nature and a taste for the irrational..
The simplicity of the rural environement in contrast with the frantic urban bustle.
A universe of dreams transcending the mundane and actual material real world.
It is by means of their creations that romantics cry out for freedom of expression for their sensibility.
They put their aching self and their ideals of purity before moderation instilled by rational thinking.
They worship primitive conditions, spontaneous inspiration and violent passion.
They are dream dwellers, they investigate the supernatural, the rare and unusual, the divine and are enthralled by a legendary and gloriuos past.
They are subject to morbid fascination and death.
